I was tagged by the lovely Serendipitous Reads to do the ‘It’s Finally Fall Book Tag’ a couple of weeks ago, and have only just gotten round to complete it. Firstly, go check out her fabulous blog and post here. I am in full swing of Autumn at the moment, loving all the changes and getting cosy with a book on the evenings. Autumn is my second favourite season (after winter) so I really wanted to do this and hear other bloggers answers too, as I know almost everyone I follow is massive autumn fan!
IN FALL, THE AIR IS CRISP AND CLEAR | NAME A BOOK WITH A VIVID SETTING!
Audrey Niffenegger Her Fearful Symmetry. This book really stuck out to me with this question, I think the reason why is because I have visited the place it is set and it is incredibly beautiful. The descriptions definitely do the location justice. The book is set in Highgate Cemetery in London, which is a famous cemetery (Karl Marx is buried here) and it is one of the most breathtaking places I’ve been.
NATURE IS BEAUTIFUL…BUT ALSO DYING | NAME A BOOK THAT IS BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN, BUT ALSO DEALS WITH A HEAVY TOPIC LIKE LOSS OR GRIEF.
Louis de Bernières the Dust that Falls from Dreams. Bernières is one of my favourite writers as he writes so beautifully and intricately. This book is set during the first world war and so deals with a lot of death, loss and grief. One of the only books that has made me want to cry, he doesn’t shy away from talking about the details of death at all which makes you so attached and devastated for the characters.
FALL IS BACK TO SCHOOL SEASON | SHARE A NON-FICTION BOOK THAT TAUGHT YOU SOMETHING NEW.
I’m ashamed to say I don’t read a lot of non-fiction. However, I am trying to change that as there are so many non-fiction books I’d like to read. I have picked up Yuval Noah Harari’s Sapiens, and I reckon that will teach me a lot and give me a really good perspective on the world.
IN ORDER TO KEEP WARM, IT’S GOOD TO SPEND SOME TIME WITH THE PEOPLE WE LOVE | NAME A FICTIONAL FAMILY/HOUSEHOLD/FRIEND-GROUP THAT YOU’D LIKE TO BE A PART OF.
The Bennett’s in Pride and Prejudice. The Bennett’s are probably my favourite literary family, I think Lizzy and Jane would be great sisters to have, and I find Mrs Bennett so ridiculously hilarious that I think it would be good fun.
THE COLOURFUL LEAVES ARE PILING UP ON THE GROUND | SHOW US A PILE OF FALL-COLOURED SPINES!
FALL IS THE PERFECT TIME FOR SOME STORYTELLING BY THE FIRESIDE | SHARE A BOOK WHEREIN SOMEBODY IS TELLING A STORY.
Téa Obreht, the Tiger’s Wife. I chose this book because there are so many short stories and fables woven into the actual narrative.
THE NIGHTS ARE GETTING DARKER | SHARE A DARK, CREEPY READ.
Mary Shelley, Frankenstein. The whole concept of this book is extremely creepy, and ends up being really dark and tragic too. I’m sure anyone who has read this/knows the story will completely agree. Definitely an appropriate Halloween book if you’re looking for one!
THE DAYS ARE GETTING COLDER | NAME A SHORT, HEARTWARMING READ THAT COULD WARM UP SOMEBODY’S COLD AND RAINY DAY.
A.A Milne, Winnie the Pooh. As this is a children’s book it is super short. It is so sweet and has many amazing and heartwarming lessons about friendship. You can’t read Winnie the Pooh without it putting a smile on your face.
FALL RETURNS EVERY YEAR | NAME AN OLD FAVOURITE THAT YOU’D LIKE TO RETURN TO SOON.
Donna Tartt, the Goldfinch. To this day, this is probably one of the best books I have ever read and is definitely up there in my top 5 (if not top 3) all time favourites. I am dying to reread this, it is lengthy so it may be one for the new year when I can fully immerse myself in it again.
FALL IS THE PERFECT TIME FOR COZY READING NIGHTS | SHARE YOUR FAVOURITE COZY READING ACCESSORIES!
I don’t usually use any reading accessories, I am looking for a beautiful bookmark if anyone has any suggestions. I guess for now I could say a mug of hot chocolate and a cosy throw, as I always read with those in the autumn/winter time.
If any of you guys do this post, make sure to tag me so I can read your answers and leave some love! Can’t wait to hear what your responses are.
